This article explains the process of resetting/deleting label templates for Zebra ZD410, LP 2824, and GX420d printers. Reasons for resetting your label template include:
- Labels coming out blank, despite successful test prints
- Labels printing with small illegible text or other unusual patterns
- Re-creating or updating a custom label template
Method 1: From the register app
To reset your label printer's templates, first visit the Settings section of the Green Bits register, then tap "Label Printer".
Then tap "Reset All Templates". This will reset the templates on all printers that are connected to your network.
If this method is unsuccessful, try Method 2.
Method 2: From a computer
First, make sure your computer is connected to the same network as the printer.
If you're unsure if your computer and printer are connected, click here to check your computer's local IP address and note the first 3 sets of numbers. For example:
On the printer, press and hold the “feed” (paper roll) and “cancel” (X) buttons for at least 3 seconds.
A configuration report will print, at which point you can release the buttons. This report will include the printer's local IP address:
If your computer and printer are connected to the same network, their IP addresses will have the same first 3 sets of digits. The last set (145 in the above example) does not need to match between the two devices.
Next, open a web browser window on your computer and type your printer's IP address into the web address bar. This will open a Zebra printer configuration page. Click Directory Listing.
You'll see a list of several files, some of which will have a Delete option. Delete all files which have a delete option. When prompted to enter a password or PIN, enter 1234.
Close the browser window, turn the printer off, turn the printer back on again, and retry printing.
