Menu Feed Setup for Leafly - Beta Service

The Menu Feeds feature in Green Bits automates the process of managing your store's menu on popular online listing services such as Leafly. Once you complete the initial setup process, Green Bits will automatically update your Leafly menu in real time.  

When setup properly, that means that all of your sellable menu items will appear automatically on Leafly.  Sell out of something? Poof! It's gone.  Just get a brand new popular strain in your store ?  Menus are updated without your team doing anything! 

To get started, follow the steps below.

Important to Note: 

  • Leafly also offers an integration with Green Bits. You can learn more here: https://success.leafly.com/biz/green-bits-integration
  • If you've already created a menu in Leafly, enabling this integration will completely delete your existing menu and replace it with data from Green Bits.
  • Once you've enabled the integration, you will no longer be able to edit your menu directly in Leafly.
  • Photos are not currently supported.

Why read Prevent 99% of Integrated Menu Mistakes

This article will go through meticulous detail of how to ensure you have your product list structured in a way that will perfectly integrate. 


What do you mean if I don't "structure my product properly"? 

Menu Integration services have strict perimeters. If you were signed into Leafly and were manually entering all of your products, you would not be able to press "Save" unless you have certain information filled in, and in a way that makes sense to the service.  If you tried to press "save" it would give you an error message.  

For instance:

        For your Flower, your only options are:  .5g, 1g, 3.5g, 7g, 14g, or 28g units.  If you have a 

         .55g product, this product will be prevented from displaying.

         For Concentrate, your only options are: .5g, 1g, 2g. Be sure to adjust the weight to match.

         Things that will never be displayed: Concentrates with no weight and Flower with no 

         weight.

If you haven't already, makes sure you create a Leafly account!

 

1. Select Marketing from the top menu bar.

2. Select Menu Feeds, then Add Menu Feed.

3. Name your menu feed and select Leafly.

Note: This name is only visible to you.

4. Set Menu Groups.

Once you've selected Leafly from the Menu Listing drop-down, you'll see a list of default Menu Groups. Here is where you will filter the products that get published to Leafly and set the parameters for how your products will be listed.

Each Menu Group is separated by product type (Flower, Concentrate, Edibles, etc.), with most groups set to commonly used defaults.

You can remove Menu Groups by clicking the X near the upper right of each group, or add more groups by clicking Add Menu Group at the bottom of the page.

Tip: Determine the order in which you want these groups to appear on Leafly before setting the filters and parameters, as you will not be able to change the order later.

5. Set filters and parameters.

Group Name - Choose from Flower, Clone, PreRoll, Seeds, Edible, Concentrate, or Other.

Product Filters - Apply one or more filters for Product Type, Flower Type, Concentrate Type, Tags, Without Tags, or Quantity on hand.

Price By - "Weight" will display prices for a gram, ounce, eighth, and etc. "Unit" will display the price for each unit of a menu item. Typically flower-based products (including pre-rolls and pre-packaged flower), concentrates, or anything else sold in various weights will be priced by weight. Edibles and seeds will usually be priced by unit.

Product Name Format - Controls how your products' names show up on Leafly. Check to make sure your products all have the associated fields filled in. For example, if you choose "{{strain}} by {{brand}}" each product will need to have both a Strain and Brand specified, otherwise it will not show up on Leafly.

  • {{strain}} - shows only the strain name, e.g., "Purple Haze"
  • {{strain}} by {{brand}} - shows the strain and brand, e.g., "Purple Haze by Greenery Farms"
  • {{strain}} {{concentrate type}} by {{brand}}, e.g., "Purple Haze Cartridges by Greenery Farms" or "Purple Haze Shatter by Greenery Farms"
  • {{tiered_pricing_model}}: {{strain}} - if you use tiered pricing, this option will show the names of your price tiers on Leafly, e.g., "Top Shelf: Purple Haze"
  • {{tiered_pricing_model}}: {{strain}} by {{brand}}, e.g., "Top Shelf: Purple Haze by Greenery Farms"
  • {{name}} - uses only exact product name you've entered in Green Bits

Test Results Padding (Optional) - shows a range of test results for all of the products in that category. Let's say for the Indica category you have Products A and B.  Product A has a THC of 5.3% - 5.7%, and Product B 6% - 9.4%.  If you place 2% in the padding range for this group, the results on the menu will show product A 3.3% - 7.7% and product B 4% - 11.4%.

6. Preview your menu feed.

As you edit each field, utilize the preview function in the top right of the page to view what your menu will look like when published. Here you will see your successful listings, as well as unsuccessful ones that will display an error message. Those messages will give tips as to which product parameter to adjust in Green Bits so the listing will populate to Leafly. For example, note the pink background indicating errors below. In the two examples, the errors demonstrate missing data for the name and price. To fix them, find the products associated with the errors and adjust the parameters associated with the error, i.e. the price and data needed for the name "{{brand}} and {{strain}}".

Tip: The error message "Missing price that fits into listing services's price columns" may also refer to a missing or incompatible value entered in the "Weight" field on a given product. Green Bits supports prices for weight-based products in columns corresponding to commonly-sold weights 0.5 g, 1 g, 2 g, 3.5 g, 7 g, 14 g, and 28 g. Products with weights other than these exact amounts cannot be listed with these standard columns.

7. Publish your menu feed.

Once everything looks good and there are no more error messages in the preview function, save the Menu Feed, and return to the Menu Feed list screen. From there click Publish. In order to publish with Green Bits data, we need to delete your existing Leafly Menu. You will prompted with a confirmation dialog box. Once you accept, you will be redirected to Leafly for authorization.

8. Log in to Leafly and authorize Green Bits to access your Leafly account.

After being re-directed back to Green Bits, select your store to publish to Leafly.

Set up complete! Now you should see your menu populate on Leafly with all of your active products. Allow up to 1 hour for the entire menu to publish.
