The Green Bits Register app includes features to help prevent budtenders from inadvertently selling products approved only for medical sales to non-qualified recreational customers. This feature currently applies only to stores operating in Washington, California, and Nevada.
Products classified as "medical" in the Washington state traceability system include an additional field in Green Bits labeled Medical Subtype.
Medical Subtype includes three classifications: High CBD and General Use, which can both be sold to recreational customers, and High THC, which can only be sold to medical patients.
Attempting to sell a High THC product to without first assigning a qualified medical patient profile to the transaction will result in a compliance warning at the register. If you encounter a compliance warning on a product that you've confirmed is approved for recreational sale, you can edit the Medical Subtype in Back Office.
First, go to Products and search the SKU/lot number that's triggering the compliance warning. In this example, we have CBD Tincture that was mistakenly marked High THC. Click the product name to view the details.
From the product detail view, scroll down to the SKU/Lot Number section, then click Actions > Edit.
Near the top of the Edit Inventory view, click the Medical Subtype field and change it from High THC to High CBD or General Use, whichever is appropriate for the given product. Save your changes, and you should now be able to sell this product to both recreational customers and medical patients.
In California and Nevada:
Similar to Washington, users in California and Nevada attempting to sell a medical-only product to without first assigning a qualified medical patient profile to the transaction will encounter in a compliance warning at the register. The terminology and settings for these products, however, is slightly different for these two states.
If you encounter a medical-only compliance warning on a product that you've confirmed is approved for recreational sale, log in to the Back Office and locate the original manifest for the product/SKU in question in the Incoming Inventory section.
Click to reopen the manifest, find the exact product/SKU in question, and un-check the Medical Only box. In this example, Blue Dream Bulk Flower was inadvertently designated Medical Only during the receiving process, while the other item on the manifest was correctly designated Medical Only.
Conversely, if you find a medical-only product can be sold without the expected compliance warning, check the Medical Only box to ensure that only medical patients can purchase the item going forward.
In either case, click the Save button in the upper right to confirm the change.
Having trouble finding a manifest? There are two easy ways to look up a manifest by product.
The first is within the Incoming Inventory screen, by clicking Find Accepted SKU near the upper right. Type the SKU of the product in question, click OK, and the associated manifest will be displayed below.
If you're not sure of the exact SKU, look up the product by name or any other attribute in the Products list, and click to open the product details.
Scroll down to the SKU/Package ID section and click the green SKU number to jump to the associated manifest in Incoming Inventory.
