Product Types are tied to taxes and transaction limits for the Products that you associate to them. If you want to change the taxes or transaction limits applied to a Product, edit the Product Type that you associated to that Product.
You can see what Product Type applies to a Product by going to Inventory > Products and searching for the Product.
Reviewing default product types
Green Bits includes default Product Types that cover the most common products that you will sell. To review the default Product Types, go to Inventory > Product Types:
If your store is in Oregon, we recommend that you set up a new Product Type for hemp products.
Adding, editing, and deleting product types
Note: when adding a new Product Type, don't forget to visit the Taxes page and specify which tax(es) apply to your new Product Type, and whether Patients are exempt from tax on this Product Type.
To Add: Go to Inventory > Product Type, select +Add Product Type. Enter the Product Type details and select Save when you are done.
To Edit: Go to Inventory > Product Type and select a Product Type. Make changes to the details and select Save when you are done.
To Delete: You cannot delete a Product Type if there are Products that you assigned to it. Assign those Products to a different Product Type, open the Product Type you want to delete, and select Delete.

Transaction Limit Type: Select the appropriate limit type. This setting governs the maximum quantity, weight, or potency that can be sold in a single transaction (based on your local regulations) to ensure your sales are compliant and budtenders aren't over-selling. For state-specific details, click the light-blue question mark box on the right. For further details, see our Transaction Limits article.
Editable Fields: Select or de-select as appropriate. For example, Flower typically should include Weight, Strain, Test Results, and Flower Type, but Concentrate type wouldn't be applicable. Paraphernalia and other non-marijuana products won't require any of these fields.
