Default roles and permissions

Your Green Bits account includes default roles that you can assign to users. If those roles don't work for your business, you can create new roles using these permission groups and individual permissions.

Default roles

  • Budtender  role:
    • Make Sales (start and update shifts, ring sales, and view products)
    • Alter Sales (apply discounts, create returns and voids)
  • Shift lead role:
  • Supervisor default role:
    • All Shift Lead permissions
    • Manage Inventory (receive manifests, create return manifests, adjust inventory, manage products and manage product types)
    • Manage Discounts
  • Admin default role:

Permissions

Permission groups

Similar permissions are grouped together on the Roles page, with individual permissions listed beneath. If you select the permission group, you are also selecting all of the individual permissions underneath.

To select permissions on a more detailed level:

  1. Uncheck the top-level permission.
  2. Select Advanced.
  3. Select the individual permissions that you want this role to have.

Make sales permission group

  • Create sales
  • Skip sales warning: Allows a user to bypass below cost and transaction limit warnings. Users without this permission will require a manager/admin PIN in order to override the warning and complete the sale
  • View products
    • Applies to the products list in both the register and in Back Office.
    • You must also select Access Back Office in order for this permission to work.
  • Start shift
  • Update shift
  • Manually add item: Allows a user to ring up an item by searching the product name or SKU. Users without this permission will be required to scan all items in order to add them to a sale
  • Manually verify age: Applies only to recreational stores using age verification at the register. Allows a user to type a customer's date of birth into the register. Users without this permission will be required to scan the customer's ID in order to verify age and complete a sale.
  • Create employee sales: Allows a user to ring up sales with an employee as the customer, for the purpose of distributing samples or applying employee discounts

Alter sales permission group

  • Apply discounts
  • Apply manual discounts: Manual discounts are discounts that are not based on a fixed amount or percentage. Allows a user to enter a custom discount amount or percentage at the point of sale
  • Create returns
  • Create voids

Manage shifts permission group

  • Update sales: Allows a user to edit the payment type(s) and amount(s) on a previous transaction from the Activity page in Back Office.
  • Create paid in and out
  • Update paid in and out
  • Open drawer: Refers to the ability to manually open the cash drawer from the Manage Drawer section of the register app.
  • View z report

Analyze sales permission group

You must also select Access Back Office in order for this permission to work.

Access Back Office permission group

This permission allows a user to sign in to the Green Bits Back Office.

  • This is not required for accessing the register or for making sales.
  • Many of the other permissions require you to also select Access Back Office in order to work.

Manage inventory permission group

You must also select Access Back Office in order for this permission to work.

Manage pricing tiers permission group

You must also select Access Back Office in order for this permission to work.

  • View tiered pricing models
  • Create tiered pricing models
  • Update tiered pricing models
  • Destroy tiered pricing models

Manage discounts permission group

  • View discount plans
  • Create discount plans

Manage taxes permission group

You must also select Access Back Office in order for this permission to work.

Manage devices permission group

Green Bits recommends that you have at least one user with these permissions be in your store at all times. These permissions are required in order to activate the Green Bits app and connect it with your Back Office and inventory. Update devices allows a user to re-name a register and set whether that register can process medical sales only, recreational sales only, or both.

Manage users permission group

You must also select Access Back Office in order for this permission to work.

Manage store settings permission group

This section controls access to the Store Options page in Back Office as well as other storewide settings such as Location settings, Receipt settings, and Traceability settings.

Manage billing permission group

These permissions allow a user to view or update the name and email address of your designated primary billing contact.

You must also select Access Back Office in order for this permission to work.

  • Update billing information
  • View billing information

Manage customers permission group

You must also select Access Back Office in order for this permission to work.

  • View customers
  • Update customers
  • Destroy customers

Manage patients permission group

You must also select Access Back Office in order for this permission to work.

  • View patients
  • Create patients
  • Update patients

Manage employees permission group

"Employees" refers specifically to employee customer profiles (customers with "Person Type" set to "Employee"), which are used for distributing samples and can also be used to create employees-only Discount Plans.

Manage menu feeds permission group

You must also select Access Back Office in order for this permission to work.

  • Create menu feeds
