If your Socket Mobile scanner is giving you trouble, or you need to change between HID and iOS mode or need to pair the scanner with a different device, follow the steps below.
1. Forget the device
From your iPad's home screen, select Settings > Bluetooth.
Tap the “i” icon off to the right of the device name, then Forget this device.
We also recommend turning off Bluetooth at this point. If you can, also turn off any other nearby Bluetooth devices.
Tip: if you have multiple registers and you're unsure which scanner is paired with which iPad, compare the MAC address shown in the Bluetooth settings with the last 6 characters in the MAC address on the label on your scanner.
Listen for three beeps. This deletes the scanner's paired device memory and turns the scanner off.
3. Turn the scanner back on
Press and hold the small button until you hear two beeps.
4. Factory reset
Scan the barcode below. Listen for multiple beeps. If you don’t hear any, try scanning from different angles, and/or from 1-2 feet away.
This barcode resets the device to factory settings and HID mode. When scanned successfully, the device will automatically turn off.
5. Enable iOS mode
Skip this step if you're pairing this scanner with your computer, such as for an inventory audit.
Press the small button on the scanner to turn it back on, then scan the barcode below.
As before, vary the distance and angle you scan from until you hear multiple beeps (this time the scanner will not turn off).
This barcode activates iOS mode, which is required for proper functionality with the iPad.
6. Tap the device to reconnect
On your iPad, go back to Settings> Bluetooth. If you turned Bluetooth off earlier, turn it on again now.
You should see a Socket device appear. Tap to connect.
7. Wait for the device to connect
The device status will change to “Connected”
Note: if the device initially displays as "Keyboard", this indicates the scanner is still in HID mode, and the barcode in step 5 did not scan successfully.
