Products in Green Bits are the things that you sell in your store. For example: "Jack Herer Bulk Flower", "Sour Diesel 1g Pre-roll", or "Wild Cherry Gummies 10mg (10 count package)". A Product is what you list on your menu and what your customers ask for by name.
Products allow you to organize your Inventory Items, create a consistent naming convention, and save time by avoiding the need to re-enter basic details that are the same for each Inventory Item, such as name, description, strain, brand, and price.
From an inventory manager's perspective, a Product is like a "holding cell" for Inventory Items. For example, a Product "Jack Herer Bulk Flower" could consist of several packages of Jack Herer from the same supplier, sold at the same price, but accepted at different times and possibly originating from different harvests. In order to simplify and organize our inventory, theses multiple different Inventory Items can all be assigned to the same Product.
When should I create a new Product?
You will create a new Product in Green Bits if:
- You're accepting inventory that you've never sold before, such as a new strain from a new vendor.
- For different vendors of the same item. For example, Best Farms Bubba Kush cartridges and Green Farms Bubba Kush cartridges are two separate Products.
- For different weights of the same item. For example, Cherry Pie 1g pre-pack and Cherry Pie 3.5g pre-pack are two separate Products.
You should not create separate Products for different batches of the same product. Instead create one Product and continue to assign multiple Inventory Items to it over time.
