Customer Groups allow you to categorize different types of adult-use customers and medical patients so they can be automatically taxed at different rates, if required by your local regulations.
Note: the Customer Groups feature is not activated by default. To get access to this free feature, please contact Green Bits support.
Specify Customer Group when creating Customers or Patients
When creating a customer or patient, select the appropriate Customer Group. Fill in the other customer information fields as normal, and select Save.
Note: Employee and Patient (MMIC) can only be created in Back Office. Patients created in the Register app will be assigned to Patient (Physician Recommendation).
Configure tax exemptions
Check the boxes for each taxable Product Type. Next, check the appropriate boxes to exclude Patient (MMIC) and/or Patient (Physician Recommendation) groups from tax, as required by your local regulations. Customer (recreational/adult-use) and Employee groups are subject to all taxes.
For example, this tax applies to all Product Types and all Customer Groups:
If you have a tax that is applicable to all customers and patients, except patients with an MMIC card, check the boxes under Exclude MMIC.
The appropriate taxes will be automatically applied at the point of sale based on the product(s) on the transaction and the customer/patient you've assigned to the transaction.
