When you receive inventory, you can create SKUs on the manifest for the items you receive. Greenbits uses the SKU to generate a barcode that you can print onto labels and scan at the Register. The barcode label connects to the SKU, which connects to your Greenbits inventory.
For cannabis inventory in Metrc states
- Greenbits automatically enters the Package ID into the SKU field.
- Scanners can't read Package IDs as barcodes, so always create a new SKU and print barcode labels.
- Do not rely on barcodes that are already on the packaging, because they are not unique to a specific Package ID.
- You can't re-use SKUs on future cannabis inventory because they are tied to Package IDs.
- Tip: Select Create New SKUs at the top of the manifest page to automatically assign SKUs for each item on your manifest at once.
For cannabis inventory in Leaf states
- Greenbits automatically enters the Lot Number into the SKU field.
- If your items don't have barcodes, select the barcode button on the manifest to print barcodes labels.
- If the inventory already has a barcode, test the barcode using an app or by placing your cursor into the SKU field and scanning it with a barcode scanner. If the barcode scan matches the Lot Number, you do not need to create SKUs or print barcode labels. You can use the one already on the item.
- If you test the barcode and it does not match the Lot Number, enter the full Lot Number in the SKU field on the manifest and print barcode labels.
- Short identifiers will not scan properly.
For cannabis inventory in untracked states
- If you're receiving inventory that you've received before, Greenbits automatically enters the same SKU from the last time you received it. Print barcode labels from the manifest. If the Wholesale Cost has changed, Greenbits calculates a weighted average cost.
- If you are receiving new inventory and it doesn't have a barcode label, create a SKU and print barcode labels from the manifest.
- If the inventory has a barcode label, place your cursor in the SKU field and scan the barcode. Print barcode labels.
- Tip: Select Create New SKUs at the top of the manifest page to automatically assign SKUs for each item on your manifest at once.
For non-cannabis inventory
- If you're receiving inventory that you've received before, Greenbits automatically enters the same SKU from the last time you received it. Print barcode labels from the manifest.
- If you are receiving inventory and it doesn't have a barcode label, create a SKU and print barcode labels from the manifest.
- If the non-cannabis inventory has a barcode label, place your cursor in the SKU field and scan the barcode. Print barcode labels.
